First of all, the good news is that Peru is a very kid-friendly country, and Lima definitely is too. I didn’t live there with children myself, but several of my friends did, and they always had plenty of activities to do with their kids.
I highly recommend following this Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/limaparachicos. They regularly share family-friendly activities and events happening around Lima.
Speaking Spanish is definitely helpful, but don’t worry too much if you don’t. There are lots of Americans, Canadians, and Europeans who move to Lima with their families, so you’ll also find several English-speaking communities.
In Peru is that Sundays are sacred for families. You’ll see parks, museums, restaurants, and public spaces full of parents and children enjoying the day together, and there are usually plenty of family-oriented activities.
I’d also strongly recommend joining some of the Lima expat Facebook groups (there are quite a few!). I’m sure you’ll get lots of practical advice there about neighborhoods, schools, activities, and everyday life with kids.
